Aladdin Jr. (the musical adaptation for young performers) features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin, and a book adapted by Jim Luigs, based on the original Disney film by Ron Clements, John Musker, Ted Elliot, & Terry Rossio. Essentially, it's the classic Aladdin story with music/lyrics from the movie, but with book/arrangements tailored for younger casts by Beguelin and Luigs.

Aladdin Jr. is a condensed, family-friendly stage musical, adapted from Disney's classic film, about the poor but good-hearted street urchin Aladdin who falls for the strong-willed Princess Jasmine in the city of Agrabah; with the help of a magical Genie from a lamp, he pretends to be a prince to win her love, battling the villainous Jafar, learning about true worth, and ultimately freeing the Genie to allow Jasmine to choose her own destiny and rule Agrabah
